On a thrilling Sunday, April 2nd match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pacer, Umran Malik, displayed his exceptional skills as he dismissed Rajasthan Royals’ Devdutt Padikkal with an unbeatable delivery.
In the 15th over, Malik bowled a lightning-fast ball with a speed of 149kmph that maintained a low trajectory from a good length. The ball skidded and deceived Padikkal’s defense, ultimately uprooting the off-stump and sending him back to the pavilion. It was truly a remarkable feat that left the spectators in awe.
For those who are not familiar with him, Umran Malik had an impressive record of taking 22 wickets in just 14 games during the previous IPL season. The 23-year-old right-arm pacer was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore for IPL 2023, and he’ll be looking to continue his purple patch as SRH aims to clinch their second IPL trophy this year.
Devdutt Padikkal, on the other hand, might have failed to deliver in the opening game, but he has proven to be a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League over the years. The left-handed batsman has amassed 473, 411, and 376 runs in his last three seasons respectively, and he was retained by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.75 crore for IPL 2023.
“International experience surely makes a difference” – Umran Malik
During a recent pre-match show, Umran Malik shared his thoughts on how playing international cricket has helped him to become a better bowler.
On the pre-match show, Umran Malik said:
“I am very excited. I will try to do well. I will put my impact as long as I play and will do well for the team. [International] experience surely makes a difference. I have learned a lot since last year.”
Umran Malik has already represented Team India in eight ODIs and T20Is, where he has taken 11 and 13 wickets, respectively, highlighting his potential as a lethal bowler.
In the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, the latter was asked to bat first and posted an impressive score of 203/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
