Kohli achieved this milestone by scoring a double off Shaheen Afridi in the 48th over of India’s innings. He reached 13,000 runs in just 267 innings.

Before Kohli, it was Sachin Tendulkar who had the record for reaching 13,000 ODI runs the quickest, accomplishing this feat in only 321 innings.

By achieving this record, the former India captain joined an exclusive club of players who have scored 13,000 runs in One Day Internationals. The other members of this elite list include Tendulkar (18,426), Kumar Sangakkara (14,234), Ricky Ponting (13,704), and Sanath Jayasuriya (13,430).

Kohli, hailing from Delhi, not only broke records for 13,000 runs but was also the quickest to reach milestones at 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, 11,000, and 12,000 runs.

In a double celebration, Kohli secured his 47th ODI century, inching closer to Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries, which remains the highest in 50-over cricket. Rohit Sharma and Ricky Ponting share the third spot on the list with 30 ODI centuries each.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul showcased a masterful display of batting, enabling India to establish a formidable target against Pakistan within their allotted 50 overs. The duo forged an exceptional double-century partnership, commencing on the reserve day with India at 147/2 after 24.1 overs.

Kohli concluded his innings undefeated, amassing 122 runs from 94 deliveries, embellished with three sixes and nine boundaries. Meanwhile, Rahul contributed 111 runs from 106 balls, featuring two sixes and 12 fours.

On Sunday, September 10, India’s captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill displayed an impressive batting performance. They combined to form a formidable 121-run partnership as openers, but persistent rain ultimately led to the match being called off on that day. Rohit Sharma scored 56 runs from 49 deliveries, while Shubman Gill added 58 runs from 52 balls.

In the bowling department for Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan each claimed a single wicket.

Pakistan is aiming to secure their first victory against India in ODIs since the 2017 Champions Trophy final. They faced defeats against India in the 2018 Asia Cup and the 2019 ODI World Cup.
