Maxwell, at 35 years of age, reached his century in just 40 balls, surpassing the previous record set by Aiden Markram, who achieved it in 49 balls during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
In an astonishing display of power hitting, Glenn Maxwell accelerated his score from 75 to 101 in just five deliveries. During this explosive phase, he struck two fours and three consecutive sixes against Bas de Leede in the penultimate over of the innings. The “Big Show” concluded his innings with a total of 106 runs from only 44 balls, including nine fours and eight massive sixes. This incredible performance played a pivotal role in propelling the Australian team to a formidable total of 399/8 within their allotted 50 overs.

Australia’s imposing first-innings total was orchestrated by their seasoned opening batsman, David Warner, who notched up consecutive centuries in the ODI World Cup 2023. Warner’s partnership with Steve Smith, contributing 132 runs for the second wicket, set the foundation for Australia. Marnus Labuschagne later assumed the role of the aggressor, collaborating with Warner for an 84-run stand in the third wicket partnership.
Netherlands’ Logan van Beek managed to secure four wickets, yet his performance came at a cost, conceding 74 runs in his 10-over spell. Bas de Leede, on the other hand, proved to be the most expensive bowler for the Dutch, maintaining an economy rate of 11.50 across his 10 overs.
